April Heywood

Director of Field Operations

Our Field Operations involves both our Field Service branches and Aftermarket Services – and is fearlessly led by their Director April Heywood! She has been so positively influential in her time on the team, and ensures service with a smile from her and her team!

Q: How long have you worked for EDI?

A: Depends how you count, but overall I have worked with EDI for 20 years. I have been a direct employee for 15.

Q: How did you get to the position you are in now? You’ve worked for EDI for a while now, so it’s safe to assume you’ve held other positions before this one.

A: Diligence and dedication to our customers.  I love finding the thin line of doing what is best for our customers while also doing what is best for EDI. I always strive to protect EDI while also making sure we provide premium service to our customers. I started as a Field Service Technician, after a few years I was promoted to Field Service Manager. A few years later we added another position and scope to the department and called it more broadly the “Service Department” to make it more all-encompassing, then in 2023 I got the upgrade to Director of Field Operations over both Service and SiteWorks.

Q: What is your favorite part of Aftermarket and Field Service to talk about and why?

A: The fact that we are a full service supplier. It really sets us apart. A lot of companies supply commodity aeration equipment but EDI not only has superior equipment, the most knowledge and experience in the industry, but we fully service the equipment from brand new installations, to equipment upgrades, or long term maintenance contracts for the life of the system. It’s fun to see people react as they are usually surprised and impressed with our full service offerings.

Q: What do you wish others in the wastewater industry understood that isn’t talked about enough?

A: If you want to solve more problems, you have to ask more questions. Don’t make assumptions about what your customers or your fellow employees need. Ask.

Q: What project have you worked on or completed recently that you’re most proud of and want mentioned here?

A: Well I had very little do to with it but JBS in Grand Island, NE. This was a large project that under normal circumstances would have taken us 26 days to install. But the customer was on a very tight timeline and could not have the tanks down for that long. So our team pulled together and planned every hour of the time we had to maximize efficiency and make sure everything was ready and the knocked it out in 13 days and with a happy customer (and a second tank/project!) in the end. Very proud of the whole team.

OUR TEAM IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU
