What: Aeration is the heart of the plant which accounts for more than 50% of a wastewater treatment facility’s operating expenses and substantial percentage of a municipalities combined power usage. Yet, most diffused air systems are purchased based on lowest capital cost. What is the real installed cost of an aeration system? What optimizations can be achieved? This presentation will review the different design parameters that impact a system’s efficiency and identify cost saving opportunities for wastewater facility owners with real-life examples. Greatest cost of plant ownership (aeration energy) is overlooked but there are simple solutions for energy savings while still using traditional/conventional fine bubble systems.
